A little information about myself…….

I grew up on 10 acres outside a small town in Southern Missouri.  Like most of the families in the area, we had the usual farm animals that you think of: cows, chickens, pigs, dogs, goats and even a peacock that just showed up one day.  Our livestock numbers were small enough that we hand-milked our cows.  I wasn’t born in a small town, but born in Independence Mo (right next to K.C.), but have always been a country girl at heart.  The woods were always my safe place and a place I could be myself without any judgment from nature.

As most teenagers do, I rebelled and decided that I would never be like my parents.   I wanted nothing more than to get away from the small town life.  At a point in my life I decided I would move to St. Louis and chase the “American Dream” and make something of myself.  What I found was a career with a financial firm, making great money but also working my life away.  My world revolved around my job and that’s what I thought it was supposed to be.  The long hours, working on Saturdays just to be the best I could be at my job and for my clients, took its toll.

I found myself taking vacation just so my husband and I could go hide out on our friends’ property in Texas in order to recharge my internal battery.  The connection with nature that I had held so deep in my heart as a child and young adult was sparked again in those visits.

In short, my way of thinking began to change.  My “American Dream” was no longer to work myself to death for someone else, but for my husband and I to build a life we didn’t need a vacation from.  Timing was perfect in the fact that my husband was retiring from his job.  Our options were open to whatever we wanted to do with our life.  Several ideas were tossed around and in the end we decided what we both wanted more than anything was to be semi self-sufficient and to get back to a simple way of life.  For us that meant living off grid.

I have never been so confident an any decision that I have made in my life more than the day I gave my notice at work.  I was trading in my 5 inch heels, business attire and all the fancy things that go along with that life for a pair of muck boots and to live in a camper till we built our house.

That was seven years ago.  Now our life revolves around working our property, being close to nature and living the life we have dreamed about.  Between my love for herbalism and empowering women and my husbands love for playing music, we have in fact built our definition of the “American Dream” and wouldn’t change a thing.  Again the Wise Woman way shows that life is a spiral and you always come back to the place you were at before only different.  I find myself living on 10 acres again and this time I cherish the experience.  We welcome you into our amazing life and know that it is not for everyone, but it is filled with love and amazing energy for our Mother Earth.
